If you’ve ever run a wordpress blog before, you’d know that wordpress, while convenient in the ways it likes to be, is inconvenient in just about every thing else.
Every time I try to do something that isn’t… something like this – a standard blog post looking type thing – it’s like trying to give a cat a bath. You have to coax, cajole, threaten, and ultimately just manhandle the damn thing into doing what you want. Sure, there are plugins and themes and content blocks etc etc ad nauseum, but that just adds a sympathetic head to the hydra. The other heads are still there, bitey.
There’s also the security concern. I have Wordfence installed, which is a security plugin. Just this past month, my blog has been hit with over 5000 attack attempts. WordPress is VERY insecure. And these aren’t attacks against the server my blog is hosted on, this is JUST against WordPress itself.
You know what’s infinitely customizable? Static webpages.
You know what uses less system resources on both the server and client side? Static webpages.
You know what can’t get attacked? Static webpages. Basic HTML, CSS, and PHP.
So I’m going to code my website from scratch. It’s gonna be weird and eclectic and entirely mine.
If you have ideas about this, hit me up on bluesky!
